Note: these steps apply only if you’ve bought Paw previously on the Mac App Store. If you’ve bought a legacy license of Paw on our website, read Migrate Paw 2 licenses to Paw 3.
Download the legacy Mac App Store version
Download the legacy Mac App Store version
A recent version from Mac App Store should be installed on your machine. Any version from Paw 2.3 will work. If you don’t have it, you can download it from the “Purchased” tab of the Mac App Store.
Run Paw 2.3 for a few seconds
Run Paw 2.3 for a few seconds
- Launch Paw 2.3.x, and wait a few seconds
- Quit Paw
- Delete
Paw.app
from /Applications
Note: this step is to allow the Mac App Store version of Paw to persist the legacy license file in a shared location for future migration.
Download Paw 3
Download Paw 3
- Get the latest version of Paw: Download Paw
- Unzip the downloaded file
- Move
Paw.app
to /Applications
(override any existing version)
Launch Paw

- From the welcome window, click on the Migrate License button
- It will redirect you to our website where you can login or create an account
Connect to Paw
Connect to Paw
After creating an account you will be redirected to the authorization page. You will need to click Login with Paw and Paw will log you in.
Migrate to Paw 3
Migrate to Paw 3
Once you’ve logged-in to Paw, you’ll be taken to the migration page. Simply hit Migrate and the migration process will complete.
Note: it’s possible that you won’t need to complete this step, as under certain circumstances, the migration will be done automatically.
Once completed, you can simply go back to the Paw app.
Verify your activation

Optionally, you can verify that your version of Paw is correctly licensed by going to menu .
